Wine Country Visionary Retires

Our new Blog section, Who’s Who…, is a forum partially dedicated to chronicling important people who have made a difference in our burgeoning wine industry. Many of these folks are outside of the wine industry perse, but; nevertheless, have contributed greatly in their own special way. This last week, I heard of one such person's impending retirement, Kathy Coffey, the CEO of the Yakima Valley Visitor & Convention Bureau.
Kathy's reputation as a staunch supporter of wine country well preceded my involvement with her. But true to form, in all of my dealings, she exhibited ahas wholeheartedly and with great enthusiasm continued to back her vision of wine country being a KEY opportunity for the communities located within the vineyard region. Often, I might add in the face of a few and at times, many, naysayers. Yes, she has recently announced her retirement once they're able to find a replacement. I for one will miss her spirited and tireless belief and hope for the region. I can only hope they find a replacement who has some of that similar "chutzpah."
