LONG
SHADOWS VINTNERS
IN WALLA WALLA
With winemakers from Long
Shadows Vintners, Abeja, Pepper Bridge Winery, and
Executive Chef Mike Davis of the Restaurants at
Bellevue Towers
This is
a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Long Shadows Vintners
is a group of ultra-premium Washington wineries, founded
by Washington wine industry pioneer Allen Shoup and
headed up by some of the most acclaimed winemakers in
the world. Joining Long Shadows will be Abeja, the
highly acclaimed Walla Walla winery
whose Cabernet Sauvignon and
Syrah are consistently stylish, elegant, and
impeccably balanced, and Pepper
Bridge Winery, whose winemaker,
Jean-Francois Pellet, is a
third-generation winemaker who takes
great pride in showcasing the Walla
Walla Valley terroir in every bottle
of his award-winning Walla Walla Valley reds. The
perfect pairings for these Walla Walla wines will come
from none other than Mike Davis, formerly of the wine
town's beloved 26brix, now beginning a new culinary
venture as Executive Chef for the up-and-coming
Restaurants at Bellevue Towers, which will include
Purple Café, Barrio and Bliss.
Having twice served as a guest chef at the famed James
Beard House in New York City, Mike knows food, he knows
Walla Walla, and he loves these wines. Our mouths are
watering already. Plus - Long Shadows' chic, Chihuly
glass-laden tasting room is normally closed to the
public, so you can bet that these tickets will go
quickly!

BOOKWALTER
WINERY IN RICHLAND
With winemakers from Bookwalter Winery, Fidelitas,
and Goose Ridge Estate Vineyards & Winery, and Chef
Bobby Moore of Barking Frog
If making great wine is
truly an art, then these winemakers could be called the
Picassos of Washington wine. John Bookwalter, son of
veteran vineyard manager Jerry Bookwalter, hosts this
dinner in the vineyards at their eponymous Bookwalter
Winery, which has been producing small lots of high
quality Columbia Valley wine since 1983. Joining him
will be the renowned Charlie Hoppes of Fidelitas, who
helped define the Washington winemaking style of red
wines, and the Monson family, who has farmed on Red
Mountain for four decades and founded
Goose Ridge Estate Vineyards and Winery in
1999. This evening in the vineyards most definitely
calls for the creative, fresh wine country cuisine of
Bobby Moore. Executive Chef of Barking Frog Restaurant
at Willows Lodge, whose honors have included Washington
Wine Commission awards for “Restaurant of the Year” and
“Most Innovative Wine List,” Bobby once said, "I believe
that some people are born with the ability to create
amazing food—we’re artists.” This artful evening is sure
to be inspiring, fun, and delicious.

GILBERT
CELLARS IN
YAKIMA
With winemakers from Gilbert
Cellars, Mercer Estates, and the House of Independent
Producers, and Chef Justin Sledge of Salish Lodge
With such a swanky, organic-modern tasting room in
downtown Yakima, you’d never guess that the Gilbert
family began farming in the fertile Yakima Valley in
1897 and still owns a prominent tree-fruit company,
Gilbert Orchards, in Yakima today. But on this laid-back
evening, Nate and Sean Gilbert will host their
winemaking peers at Gilbert Cellars. After all, they’re
not the only children of Washington wine pioneers that
are now forging their own wine trails. Take Christophe
Hedges, son of Tom and Anne-Marie Hedges of Hedges
Family Estate, Washington’s largest family-owned winery.
Christophe has started his own label, aptly named, the
House of Independent Producers. And then there are the
sons and daughters of the Mercer and Hogue families, who
have come together to create their own winery, Mercer
Estates. With decades of grape-growing experience behind
them and winemaking veteran David Forsyth at the helm,
it’s been said that “Mercer’s initial showing is strong,
and the future for this young winery is promising.” All
of these inspired wines will be paired with
Chef Justin
Sledge of Salish Lodge and Spa’s
fresh, locally-sourced,
mostly organic dishes. The future of Washington wine is
here, and it sure tastes good.
