BLUEACRE IN SEATTLE
- Thursday, June 3, 2010
With winemakers from Efeste,
Waters Winery, and àMaurice Cellars
featuring Chef Kevin Davis of Blueacre

food at Steelhead Diner Chef-Owner Kevin Davis’ brand new
Seattle restaurant, Blueacre Seafood, a quintessential
American seafood restaurant showcasing sustainable,
approachable, amazing seafood. Joining him will be some
ambitious and talented young winemakers. Brennon Leighton, a
punk rock rebel turned winemaker for Efeste, was honored by
Seattle Magazine last year as “Winemaker to Watch” (And the
magazine named Efeste, Seattle’s “Best New Winery.” ) Another musician, Jamie
Brown of Waters Winery, is also making waves in Washington
wine. Jamie credits his love and knowledge of music for
helping him to become an intuitive winemaker. “My goal as a
musician was to anticipate a melody, without restricting its
natural direction. The same is true for wine...” Last but
not least, Ana Schafer, co-founder and winemaker for àMaurice Cellars, brings to her wines a studied palate,
creativity, curiosity, and a global perspective, having

CRUSH IN SEATTLE
- Thursday, June 10, 2010
With winemakers from DaMa
Wines, DeLille Cellars, and Sleight of Hand Cellars
featuring Chef Jason Wilson of Crush
Isn’t it romantic… Three
makers of some of our state’s most luscious wines are
descending on Crush, joining forces with Chef Jason Wilson
to seduce your senses, and anything could happen. Dawn
Kammer and Mary Tuuri Derby, the passionate ladies behind
DaMa Wines, craft small lots of
premium wines
that are sexy yet approachable. Joining them will be Trey
Busch, winemaker for Sleight of Hand Cellars, which was
recently named one of the "Next Cult Wineries of Washington
State" by Seattle Magazine. And finally, Jay Soloff of
DeLille Cellars will explain why, at DeLille, they about
their wines in terms of qualities like opulence, mouthfeel,
balance and elegance (rather than individual components like
chocolate, pear and coconuts!). Pair these dotingly
handcrafted wines with Chef Jason’s fresh and unexpected
fare, and it could be love at first bite. Jason has quickly
gained a big rep for creating one-of-a-kind dishes with
locally grown and produced ingredients. This will be, in

CANLIS
IN SEATTLE - Thursday, June 17, 2010
With winemakers from Spring Valley Vineyards, Va
Piano, and Hedges Family Estate
featuring Chef Jason Franey of Canlis
This will be an unforgettable
evening of legendary Washington wine and culinary
traditions, in which Canlis’ quintessential regional
cooking will be paired with wines that have been
lovingly and expertly crafted in true Washington style.
The Corkrum family has been farming Spring Valley for
over 100 years. Today, Dean and Shari Derby guide the
family with their vision of the vineyard and winery
while winemaker Serge Laville, a native of France,
crafts luscious, smooth reds from Spring Valley’s
estate-grown grapes. Justin Wylie, winemaker and owner
of Va Piano Vineyards, is a fourth-generation Walla
Walla native, whose wines display intense flavors, fine
tannin structure and intense aromas – they are
quintessential Walla Walla wines. Not far from there
lies
Red Mountain, where Tom
and Anne-Marie Hedges produced their first vintage
in 1987 and now maintain the largest family-owned winery in
the state,
Hedges Family Estate. It’s a good thing that
Chef Jason Franey, Canlis' fifth ever
executive chef in 58 years, clearly understands and
appreciates this kind of history and loyalty to
Washington State. From the start, he said, "I don't want
people to think new chef, new restaurant. I want them to
think new chef, more Canlis." We couldn’t agree more.

JOHN HOWIE STEAK IN BELLEVUE
- Thursday, June 17, 2010
With winemakers from JM
Cellars, Amavi Cellars, and Mark Ryan Winery
featuring Chef Mark Hipkiss of John Howie Steak
JM
Cellars' co-founder and winemaker John Bigelow went from the
high-tech world to the high-touch world of winemaking, and
thank goodness he did. John handcrafts wines for balance,
power, dimension and finesse. He makes what we likes to
drink, and he admits to a bias for red blends. The Goff,
McKibben and Pellet families of Amavi Cellars are equally
proud, and rightly so, of their award-winning wines.
"Starting with the 2005 vintage, our vines are 100% estate,
100% Certified Sustainable, and 100% Walla Walla Valley."
In contrast, Mark McNeilly of Mark Ryan Winery describes his
wines as just plain rockin'. He's a rock star of a winemaker
and it shows in his big red wines with rockin' names such as
"Wild Eyed," "Long Haul," and "The Dissident," - homages to
favorite rock groups, movies, and songs. Enter Chef
Mark Hipkiss of John Howie Steak, whose extensive experience
and knowledge of all things steak – not to mention his fresh
Northwest cuisine from local Dungeness crab to house-made
pastas - will be the perfect match for these artisan
Washington wines.
